You can be reached by train in less than 30 minutes from the city center.

1. Barceloneta beach
Barceloneta beach is the oldest beach in Barcelona which was renovated just before the Olympic games in 1992.
This beach is linked to the neighborhood of the same name, the Barceloneta and it’s a few minutes from Las Ramblas. Today, it is one of the most enjoyed meeting points of the city by residents and tourists who come here to breathe the Mediterranean atmosphere.
Services
You can rent umbrellas and sunbeds, and there are also showers and changing rooms. Leisure features as areas volleyball, shovels, playground, etc. In addition, there are guards along the entire beach, which makes it especially suitable for families.
Sports, sailing and other activities
The beach has several volleyball courts for sports lovers and calm sea is ideal for those who are willing to swimming or windsurfing or kitesurfing.
For art lovers:
Check out the Homenatge a la Barceloneta, an inclined tower by the German artist Rebecca Horn. In the distance you can make out the distinctive fish-shaped sculpture called Peix d’Or, made by Frank Gehry and do not miss the House of Barceloneta, a building of 1761 which houses exhibits on the history of the neighborhood.
Transport / Directions:
The fastest way to go to the beach is Barceloneta take the metro yellow line (L4) and get off at the stop “Barceloneta”.
You can also walk from the city center. It will be no more than 20 minutes from the end of Las Ramblas.

2. Castelldefels beach, La pineda.
A few kilometers from the city of Barcelona, Castelldefels beach is almost five kilometers of sand with all services ready to make the most of the beach with all the comforts. In the Pineda, in particular, they have a multisport area where you can play handball, volleyball and soccer. And the big news, a space for kitesurfing, the strength of the fans of this sport.
Transport / Directions: Castelldefels has two train stations, Castelldefels (village) and Castelldefels Beach, the line is the C-2 of Renfe. Sants station exit.
3. Montgat beach, Sant Joan.
Right in front of the district of San Juan and Old Town we found the beach of Sant Joan, a wide beach where you will find the Guingueta My Lola, the Club Maritime Montgat, beach volleyball courts, and all the services to area beaches metropolitan Barcelona.
Near the station there are Malamar, a new complex where you can practice wakeboard, wakeskate, paddle surfing and other sports.
The beach of Sant Joan de Montgat has a long history as a fishing village and still has that charm. Here still haunt the Emporium bathrooms and toilets del Carme that fill in summer tourists wanting to eat a delicious paella.
The presence of fishermen is evident, their boats are moored in the sand and there is a small fish market opened near the train tracks where they sell their catches loudly, as before. It is the only place in Catalonia where this tradition is preserved.

Transport / Directions:
This beach is served by public transport by an intercity bus, whose lines are: B29, B30, B31. Another option is Renfe. (Montgat stop).
4. Calella de Mar beach
If you are looking for a relaxing time with the sound of waves background, whether you’re go with your couple, alone or in a group, we recommend the beach of Calella de Mar.
This beach is a privileged environment as it is a meeting place between sea and mountains.
If you want to come with family or friends, Playa Grande and Playa de Garbí are a good choice to spend the day. You will find beach bars for you across the beach, sports facilities and lifeguard service, children’s mini-club services, entertainment activities, ease of access and parking.
If you prefer to enjoy the relax of its coves and small beaches, Playa de las Rocas has a exclusive environment setting of rocks, pines and cliffs becomes a magnificent cove of clear water where you can enjoy a good meal.
It is located at south of the city center, and near of the lighthouse of Calella.
It is so quiet that even has a nudist area where you can swim and sunbathe without clothes.
Services:
Garbí Beach and Grand Beach have facilities including gateway to the sand, adapted chair, adapted toilet, shower and assistance adapted to the bathroom. La playa de las Rocas also has sports facilities and lifeguard service, a children’s mini-club, entertainment activities and parking.
We must also highlight the beaches of Calella are the first beaches in Catalonia to receive the ‘Q’ of quality.
Transport / Directions:
The best option to reach the beaches of Calella is through transport regional train (R1: Molins de Rei / L`Hospitalet – Mataro / Maçanet – Massanes).
5. Sitges beach, Sant Sebastià.
Platja de Sant Sebastia is the Sitges beach par excellence, from which you can contemplate its old town huddled on a small hill overlooking the sea. It is a beach of 190 m long, golden sand with unparalleled charm throughout the coast of Barcelona.
Services:
The beach has the next services: toilets, rubbish bins, the beach is cleaned regularly footbridges, hire parasols, sun lounger hire, rental yachts and marina: Port Ginesta.
Transport / Directions
The nearest road or path is: C-32, C-31, A-7. The parking area has a little less than 100 seats.
Or you can reach the Rodalies – Renfe stop “Sitges”.
