Tibidabo is a mountain overlooking Barcelona.It rises to the north-west and affords fascinating views over the city and the surrounding coastline. With 512 meters high, also known as Magic Mountain, it is one of the best vantage points to view the city.
On the top of the mountain you will find the Sagrat Cor church and adjacent Tibidabo Amusement Park. The Temple of the Sacred Heart is a monumental neo-Gothic building with a bronze statue of the Sacred Heart on the top. An elevator allows the climb to the top of the temple, from which you can enjoy spectacular views of the city . To the right of imposing temple you can still see the original chapel that was built on the site in 1886, when there was nothing around.

Since it opened in 1901, its rides and attractions have been renewed and extended along with its amenities, including cafés, panoramic restaurants, play areas and lively entertainments which you’ll find among the attractions.
If you do choose to continue to the top, both kids and adults will enjoy the charming theme park.There are more than 25 rides and attractions for all ages: the Plane; the new roller coaster; the Plaça dels Somnis, or Plaza of Dreams; the gold mine; the Sky Walk; the Miramirall shall of mirrors; and, of course, the Giradabo, the large ferris wheel, 20 metres in diameter and 500m above the city, which is already part of the new Barcelona skyline.
The journey to Tibidabo amusement park starts with a short train ride from the centre of Barcelona. From there you will have to take the Tramvia Blau which takes you half way up the mountain or bus number 196 . If you wish to go all the way to the top of Tibidabo, where the amusement park is situated, you will also need to catch a funicular train from the half way point. The easiest way to get to the tram’s starting point is on the L7 train that leaves from Plaza de Catalunya station in the centre of town. This will take about ten minutes and drops you in Plaza de John Kennedy, right next to the necessary bus stop, which is at 2 Avenida Tibidabo- directly in front of you.
From there you will get the tram which you will pass through Barcelona’s most wealthy residential area. The journey lasts around seven minutes and as you alight you are half way up Mount Tibidabo and can take in some breathtaking panoramic views of the city. The Plaça Dr Andreu is a picturesque platform looking down over the city. There are pretty restaurants with terraces where you can relax,sip a cocktail and enjoy the views .
If you want to go to the top you have to go to the Funicular de Tibidabo.This is also an entertaining journey as you travel up through the mountain’s forests and to the summit and get a glimpse of the city from a height on your way. The funicular runs in the same time as the opening of Tibidabo theme park.
